Day 2 at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City began with me taking time to go to the casino before the kids woke up. If you haven’t read Day 1, click here.

Me Time at the Casino
One good thing about a casino getaway with kids is that when the kids go to bed, the parents can take turns having time for themselves at the casino. I’m not a big gambler but I always have fun playing penny slots. It’s like an arcade for parents except rather than prizes, you can potentially win cash.
Another benefit of taking time to play at the casino is gaining rewards such as free rooms. Just remember that to get these rewards, you’ll need to sign up for a player’s card and insert your card into the slot machine before playing.
Breakfast
We began our morning at Cafféccino, located in the lobby of the resort. Cafféccino is a new quick-service restaurant at the Ocean Casino Resort. The café is located near the guest room elevators, much closer than any of the other eateries in the resort. There are several grab-and-go options, as well as breakfast sandwiches and bagels that can be made to your liking. There are numerous coffee options.
If you’re a Starbucks lover, you can venture a little further from the guest rooms to The Grind, another café serving your favorite Starbucks beverages.

Lucky Snake Arcade
After breakfast we headed back out to the Boardwalk. The unseasonably warm weather was gone. The air was now frigid and the winds high. Luckily, our next destination was the resort right next door so it was a short walk. We entered Lucky Snake Arcade and Sports Bar inside the Showboat Casino and Resort. Lucky Snake advertises as the largest arcade in the East. We aren’t sure how they measured this but to us, it didn’t seem any larger or better than some of the other large chain arcades in the East like Dave & Buster’s, Round One, or Main Event. It was still a decent arcade with your typical arcade games and the kids had a blast.

Dinner and Evening Activities
After the arcade, we headed back to the Eclipse Indoor/Outdoor pool. For the second night in a row, the hot tub was too crowded for us to comfortably fit. I recommend going in the morning if you don’t like crowds. We swam through the tunnel from the inside pool to the outside pool but quickly turned back. Even though the pool is heated, the cold on our faces was a bit too much.
After the pool, we went back to Rocco’s Italian Restaurant. We tried to order an entire oversized pie but they only sell 16″ pies. We settled for a couple of oversized slices, which we took back to our room.
To end the night, we changed into our pajamas and headed down to the lobby. I’ll admit that it felt a bit weird at this resort since most hotel guests were dressed up and off to enjoy the night life. My husband went to the lobby bar where we were pleasantly surprised to find Angry Orchard on tap. (My fellow cider drinkers will appreciate what a rare find that is.) With drinks in hand, and juice and snacks for the kids, we relaxed in the Aquarium seating area. One thing we enjoyed about this resort was the many unique seating areas. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the Aquarium area. My kids loved watching the different tropical fish swim by. After drinks and snacks it was time for bed.

Check Out
Unlike check-in, check-out was a breeze. The TV was programmed to provide your account information, so we viewed our final bill to make sure everything looked good, and pressed check-out on the TV. The hold placed on our card for incidentals, minus everything we charged to the room, was immediately released back into our account. The only thing left was to drop our room keys into the Express Check-out box in the lobby.
The West Way Rating- 🙂
We give the Ocean Casino Resort a 🙂 (slightly smiling face). The rooms and the customer service could use a tune up; however, it’s not enough to keep us away because of the very low room rates. Even if you have not earned free rooms yet, the rates especially during the week and during the off-season are extremely low compared to other hotels and resorts. There are so many food options but the food is very expensive, even for the quick service options. While the food was good, we didn’t think it was worth the high price. My suggestion would be to spend a bit more to eat at the restaurants for better quality food, to find somewhere else on the Boardwalk to eat, or to bring snacks and lunch with you (there’s a refrigerator in the room but not a microwave). Overall, if you live a couple of hours away and are looking for a short restful getaway, and you find a good deal on the rooms, I’d say go for it. Just earning the free rooms was worth it for us to have a home away from home.
