Established in 1836, it is the oldest and largest state museum in the country. My family has visited on several occasions and we never get enough. This museum, which runs on donations only, features life-sized replicas of animals native to New York, artifacts from the September 11th attack on the World Trade Center, a display of fire trucks dating back to 1791, and more.

The American Museum of Natural History is a favorite among families, offering an exciting journey through the natural world. One of the its most popular exhibits is World Brooklyn in which children play in child-sized shops and take on the roles of shopkeeper, baker, grocer, shopper, designer, performer, and builder.
